About this artwork
This is a seascape with figures, painted in oil and with a palette knife on 3mm cardboard glued to a rigid cardboard backing. It is sold framed under glass in a 2cm thick natural wood frame and measures 33x24cm overall with the frame. It is executed in a semi-abstract style, like all my seascapes, where the motif is never fully drawn but suggested with the palette knife using light impasto techniques. This gives it a vibrant, intimate, and contemporary… feel. It is inspired by the atmosphere of the landscapes of the Arcachon Basin and the Atlantic coast.
« The artist is this poet who colors his dreams and gives them a reality. »
Michel Saint-Luc is a French painter who has exhibited in Spain, Germany, and France. Having been born and lived close to water his entire life, Saint-Luc's works reflect his passion for seascapes. He often blurs the horizons, allowing the eye the possibility to seize and redefine it. His figurative and abstract compositions are created using knives and painted with oils on canvas or cardboard.
