About this artwork
This painting is one of a series of paintings that although abstract, depicts an exploration in nature of a tree that has fallen in a storm. The artist is interested in a keen sense of observation and evoking a feeling of "I've seen a tree like this before" whether being in a photograph or a walk in the woods. She is interested in the abstraction of forms and not being too literal in her forms or colours but we can see the natural world within her…

Michela Sorrentino is an established Canadian artist with international exposure.Sorrentino's paintings juxtapose bold designs and unusual color combinations with dramatic marks and unique symbols. Within each of Sorrentino’s works are layer upon layer of marks, which she often combines with larger organic or architectural shapes as well as graffiti inspired typography. The abstract images that form her art are symbols for what interests the artist in her every-day life.
