About this artwork
In this painting, we see a face captured very close up and out of focus, that of a boy who is sleeping and, I might add, dreaming. The influence of photography is evident with the abstract background. There are sequins and a tiny bit of embroidery. The common thread in this series is an interest in expressions captured in a photograph, which become emblems of a youthful state of being, somewhere between the comical and the transcendent.

She uses layering techniques on canvas and paper, favoring limited colors and white backgrounds that transform her figures into sculptures suspended in the void. Inspired by images of memory and analog archives, she creates simple, essential, and meditative works that evoke silence, suspension, and the poetry of the ephemeral.
