About this artwork
Inspired by a recent journey through Morocco, this portrait is a tribute to the resilient women of North Africa. Informed by my career in international development, my art strives to capture the strength and quiet dignity of women worldwide.
Artistically, the piece explores the beautiful tension between realism and abstraction. The subject’s face and traditional coin jewelry are constructed entirely from meticulously cut fabric scraps. By blending… stark geometric shapes with earthy tones, rich burgundies, and deep denim blues, I created a textured portrait honoring their unbreakable spirit.
