About this artwork
I painted this plein air at local nursery. Set among brightly colored nursery pots, their white blooms seemed almost luminous, gathering and reflecting the cool lavender light around them. While other plants competed for attention, these hydrangeas offered something gentler: a sense of calm, abundance, and stillness.
The interplay of cool whites, greens, blues, and violets created a harmony that felt both fresh and contemplative. Loose brushwork… allows the forms to emerge gradually, much as they did when I first encountered them.
