Reflected Forms No.1 was a spontaneous form inspired by the shape of the wood block. It's always a pleasure when, after contemplating on the block for a while, the idea emerges that feels just right. The acrylic paint idea came about during the process as a way to increase the visual weight of the concavities. These openings add a certain character to the two similar bodies as well as enhancing the directional visual force. I think the tension between… the two parts whilst interconnected instill on the whole form a strong sense of resolution and overall harmony. The movement of the radiating wood grain adds a sense of a soft rhythmic pulsation moving across the surface of the form. The view from the back serves as something of a profile view, where the outline of the entire form becomes the focus—bringing the aspect of wholeness again into the light. The first 4 photos are taken in daylight. The last 4 photos are taken with neutral studio light (4000k).
