About this artwork
Through this acrylic painting, I wanted to capture the swirling energy and nocturnal magic of Van Gogh's "Starry Night"! Each brushstroke expresses the vibrant movement of the stars, blending impressionism and abstraction to reveal the profound emotion of a living sky.
I'm sure this piece will bring a dynamic and poetic atmosphere to your home, inviting you to dream under an endless sky. I admit the challenge raised some apprehension: "...What will… it be like to reproduce such a masterpiece in acrylic?" I added a little texture paste to create depth: a touch of abstraction that you can feel, more contrasting, more exaggerated colors in darker and warmer tones. In the end, I found the result just right, surprising, something that really pops!
Mikel Richard, a self-taught painter and landscape architect by training, works primarily with acrylic on canvas, sometimes incorporating texture pastes and hot glue. His technique oscillates between the figurative, the symbolic, the mythological, the abstract, and surrealism, creating a dialogue between reliefs, materials, and dreamlike landscapes. He invites the viewer to rediscover the sense of wonder, dreams, and serenity, seeking to awaken wisdom and amazement, and to offer everyone an escape from the everyday, a true nourishment for the soul.
