About this artwork
In Norse pagan mythologies, "Haga" meant quickset and Hawthorn.
This thorny shrub with hard wood and white flowers growing at the edge of forests, formed impassable hedges.
By extension, this word also meant "the one who stands at the border between the world of Men and the wild world". "Haga" became "Haag", the witch.
For me, this ancestral animist figure perfectly expresses the close link that is woven between nature and Man, when the latter… enters into connection, even in fusion with it, during shamanic journeys for example.
