About this artwork
Engaged Buddhism seeks to capture the tension between spiritual practice and worldly reality. The spiral and central circle on the right symbolize Buddhist essence and inner awareness, while the dark tendrils on the left embody chaos, attachments, and the burdens of the material world. Green and white currents flow like breath, nurturing a new equilibrium amid the clash.
For me, this painting also marks a turning point in my own inner journey. Ever… since my subconscious began unfolding in dense, story-like visions that I could vividly witness, I felt carried by its narratives. With this work, however, I recognize that my soul has finally moved beyond being confined to the subconscious—it has been released into consciousness. The painting therefore embodies not only the spirit of “engaged Buddhism,” but also my personal passage of bringing hidden depths of the psyche into the light of awareness.
