« Contemporary weaving awakens one of the oldest human activities: weaving, binding, and connecting together to produce new material. I realize a work that goes from sculpture to bas-relief involving transparency, shade, and light. »
What sets Mireille Guérin’s creativity into motion is the incredible possibility that color offers, as well as the endless mixture of threads and gradations in tapestry. Nature is often at the origins of the French textile artist’s reflections and her pieces are also inspired by mythology and biblical themes. Guérin begins by creating a colored sketch made out of cardboard before beginning her process that involves traditional techniques with numerous textiles.
