About this artwork
Toucans - the jesters of the jungle - are colorful, playful and quite noisy - and live in the treetops of the forests of Central and South America. Like most other rainforest dwellers, toucans are threatened by the destruction and deforestation of their habitat. The rainforests are cleared for the cultivation of grain, soy and palm oil.
This artwork is a call to protect wild life in nature in its beauty and diversity. It is everyone's responsibility… to protect and respect the earth.
The artwork is mixed media on canvas and has a strong structure. The packaging materials worked into the picture, eg empty coffee bags, show the beauty of things that are actually there to be thrown away. The sides are also painted for a lively, sculpted look. The picture is glossy varnished. It needs no frame and is ready to hang.
