About this artwork
“Gorilla” comes from the Greek word “Gorillai”, meaning hairy women. In Slovakia it has recently been used to refer to the 'cause of the gorillas', in reference to a political-economic scandal, and describes the shady characters who pull the strings of corruption.

Begun in 2007, Miroir Noir is an artistic collaboration between the Slovak painter and illustrator Miloš Kopták and the Catalan visual artist Rai Escalé. Their joint artwork is made using vinyl paints on linen canvas. United by a common aesthetic, their work always begins with an expressionist vision for the future and made with a palette of high-contrasting colors.
