About this artwork
This work is inspired by the film Wild Robot. It illustrates once again the idea that we all need a push in our lives to keep going, incorporating architectural elements from Orlando, my first city in the USA, and references to my home province of Camagüey, such as the name Eve, my girlfriend's cousin who lives there.
In my paintings there are always several elements that will connect different expressions, and the viewer, like an archaeologist,… will have to discover them.
Miroslav de la Torre Kozorez (1992), from Cuba, is a visual artist trained at the Vicentina de la Torre Academy of Arts (2008-2011) in Camagüey and at the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) in Havana, Cuba (2015-2023). His works navigate between expressionism, surrealism, and informalism, formulating a post-romantic style that oscillates between the abstract and the figurative. He explores themes such as solitude, travel, and the fusion of reality with fantasy, reflecting social critiques. His pieces seek to convey stories full of profound, urgent, and personal emotions, employing color as a writer uses words: to move and evoke reflection.
