About this artwork
Series: The Flute of Silence. “Where the Wind Insists” (Acrylic on canvas 120 x 100 cm) Miroslav Spadrna 2026 from Spain. In this work, Miroslav Spadrna creates a painting where the figure is not represented, but rather resists. The body, barely stabilized against a persistent gust of wind, becomes an axis of tension between matter and atmosphere. There is no landscape in the background: everything is a field of forces.
The wind is not a narrative… element, but a pictorial structure. The diagonals, the drags, and the incisions construct an unstable surface where the painting seems to unfold in real time. The light, positioned in the upper area, acts as an ambiguous focus: it can be refuge, memory, or destiny, but never resolution.
The red figure—fragmented, pierced, and partially dissolved—introduces a human dimension without becoming merely illustrative. It is a vulnerable presence, but also a persistent one.
Miroslav Spadrna, a Czech painter, primarily uses paint and mixed media on canvas, where the material itself plays a crucial role. He works with dense reliefs applied with a palette knife, fusing the abstract and the figurative in vibrant and gestural compositions, characterized by striking color contrasts and intense texture. His work conveys a profound emotional and spiritual connection, inviting the viewer to feel the energy of each brushstroke and immerse themselves in a unique sensory experience.
