Upon further exploration of the dance of light and shadow, she has begun integrating gold leaf into her work. This painting has the muted, softness of the background colours contrasting the deep, richness within. Always, nature is at the foundation of her work, in her minds eye there is a vision of what will manifest, it is often an abstraction of what she sees when she closes er eyes.

Canadian artist Mishel Schwartz knew that she wanted to be a painter from a young age, when she would hide at the top of the stairs near her parent' studio, watching them paint live models. Her abstract pieces are inspired by the natural world, and the lure of nature is at the heart of every piece she creates. Schwartz uses the medium of alcohol ink, amazed by its fluidity and its translucent properties. She believes it is the perfect medium to balance the need for control and the need for freedom.
