About this artwork
An earlier painting before she started using alcohol ink, it is a personal favourite for its use of light and shadow, form and expression. She likes to add design elements in unexpected places, and always, the love of stylization, detail and emotion.

Canadian artist Mishel Schwartz knew that she wanted to be a painter from a young age, when she would hide at the top of the stairs near her parent' studio, watching them paint live models. Her abstract pieces are inspired by the natural world, and the lure of nature is at the heart of every piece she creates. Schwartz uses the medium of alcohol ink, amazed by its fluidity and its translucent properties. She believes it is the perfect medium to balance the need for control and the need for freedom.
