About this artwork
One of the first few paintings she created using this medium. She started painting after a long hiatus and was inspired to jump back in after watching a video of an artist using this gorgeous ink medium. She was fascinated by its translucent qualities, and how the ink seemed to take on a life of its own. She developed her own style and through exploration found ways to manipulate the ink, creating depth, richness and emotion.

Canadian artist Mishel Schwartz knew that she wanted to be a painter from a young age, when she would hide at the top of the stairs near her parent' studio, watching them paint live models. Her abstract pieces are inspired by the natural world, and the lure of nature is at the heart of every piece she creates. Schwartz uses the medium of alcohol ink, amazed by its fluidity and its translucent properties. She believes it is the perfect medium to balance the need for control and the need for freedom.
