About this artwork
I captured this vibrant moment in black and white to express the purity and intensity of intercultural dialogue: a skater (myself), prayer mat in hand and on my way to the mosque, passes by the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, a Christian building of Romanesque architecture in an African city (Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast). Every detail, from the suspended body to the breath of the wind, to the whiteness of the sky surrounding the building, embodies compassion…
and perseverance. As for the title, I chose it to highlight the challenges of being a beginner in skateboarding. This work brings an urban, dynamic energy to your home, an invitation to embrace cultural differences with tolerance and grace.
