About this artwork
In Cyclothemia, Alkhoory gives form to the motion of his own inner tides — the quiet oscillation between light and shadow within the same mind. Two faces share a single mask: one smiling, one sorrowful, both made of the same line. Inside them, smaller masks multiply, each with their own subtle variation of expression — none identical, yet none entirely apart.
At the center, a clock floats in a space-like void, its hands alive — one a serpent composed… of shifting details, the other transforming endlessly: from a fish skeleton to a butterfly, then a snowflake, then the head of a monkey that becomes a pipe, and onward without rest.
The painting becomes a visual rhythm of change, a portrait of emotion that refuses to stay still. It does not seek to define the swing between joy and despair, but to reveal the strange beauty within it — the endless becoming, where each feeling transforms into the next, and the clock keeps turning.
