About this artwork

Everyone had sometimes in their life an encounter with fortune teller.This 1m x 85cm acrylic painting is part of childhood remembrance when forecasting the future in coffee grounds was part of fun réunion.Of course the teller was telling what the listener wanted to hear and fulfill their hopes and dreams... for a child such a memory sticks in the head. Remembering the scenery with oriental wooden carved seating, and large curved sofa covered with… rich luscious European printed fabric and local kilim woven pillow. Warming the room a kilim rug with intricate different design depending on the village heritage .of course the richness of the coffee cups were the pride of the host.On The sofa recamier with its floral design and kilim pillows lies comfortably the host who is attentive to the the teller forecast. When the teller all dressed up tries a convincing speech . The whole atmosphere reflects the warmth of childhood memory.

Mona Asmar Hecker has been exhibiting her works since the 1980s in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon. Her artistic style has matured to the point where she now feels compelled to translate disturbing world issues through her compositions. Hecker paints endangered species and tackles the distress of war while also portraying vibrantly colored butterflies. She paints using acrylics as it adapts best to her needs, and adamantly ‘does not follow any rules'.
