About this artwork
Another painting of the series called "Elements". This series delves into the fundamental elements, contemplating the origins of life and the interconnectedness of everything around us. Through intuitive painting, I like to create landscapes that reflect a state of peace, wonder, and excitement.
In this particular piece, the suggested play of light and shadow creates a luminous effect, as if capturing the moment when light pierces through fog or… water, illuminating hidden depths or looking out from within... I wanted to be an immersive experience into a landscape of mystery and serene beauty. With a soft use of texture I wished to add also a tactile quality to the work, inviting closer inspection and deeper engagement with its subtle details.
By painting this piece (and the others from the series) my intention is to create atmospheric works that blend abstract expressionism with elements of nature, offering a meditative escape into a world of tranquil light and color.

Mona Barbu is a Romanian abstract artist whose paintings explore the relationship between observation and abstraction through colour, light, and material.
