About this artwork
In crafting this piece, I embraced a dance between expressionism and minimalism, mingled with semi-abstraction using the reflection of a tree branch as the inspiration. The use of acrylics and relief printing, infused with touches of gilding and pearl, allowed me to capture both the serenity and the ephemeral glimmer of water's surface. This painting is a tranquil reflection on nature's fleeting moments, offering a serene yet vibrant energy to any…
space it adorns. The word, Hara, means one’s true nature; who one truly is as a human being. So it is not just a physical centre in the body but also the centre of one’s true nature.

« Working with texture and layers in mixed media paintings gives me an opportunity to express nature in an abstract way, encouraging the viewer to be moved by its beauty. »
Monica Gewurz is an award-winning artist based in Canada whose works have been widely exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States. The abstraction of constantly changing shapes, colors, and patterns of light in the reflected water, changing skies, and the patinas of precious minerals continuously mesmerize her. Gewurz's inspiration is garnered from nature, her surroundings, experiences, and imagination. Her vibrant compositions are created using acrylics, oils, gilding, and collage on canvas or wood.
