An amazing, challenging painting that continues to fascinate you, because of distractions and all playful details.
This mixed media painting is made from cassette tapes, on which multiple layers of acrylic have been applied using spray paint, brush and markers. If you look closely at the background, you can see that the labels of the tapes are made from banknotes. A funny detail, because of the name J. Cash.
In this painting is only used black… and white spray paint. Misting the white and black paint on several layers creates mixtures, resulting in gray tones. Not the color, but the details form the artwork. You can see four images in Johnny Cash his hair. In his hand he holds a real playing card, while lighting a cigarette.
Although the painting is not about color, the color neon green is used to distract the viewer from details. In this way, the many details continue to surprise you and you keep looking at the painting.
My art is an innovative circle of life, reliving feelings, thoughts, emotions and memories in a new artistic image.
Monique de Kruijk is an artist from the Netherlands who has exhibited her works nationally. Her collections consist largely of contemporary mixed media artworks, in which different materials and techniques are used interchangeably. Her passion includes creating pop art related artworks, which focus on a strong connection between material use from the consumer industry and painting. She also creates portraits and abstract paintings and sculptures.
Studying her artworks, the imagination will speak and the layered message will make the viewer think about desires, the rapid changes in life and the contemporary reality we live in.
