About this artwork
Imbued with a whisper of impressionistic allure and minimalist clarity, I used soothing acrylics to render the gentle yet profound presence of a figure shrouded in emotion. She sits here, naked and vulnerable to the world. Why ? Perhaps it is fear or shame. Perhaps it is the unknowns of life. Perhaps it is love and longing. So she hides behind her porcelain mask feeling protected.. Have we not, as humans...felt the need to hide part of ourselves…

Monique J Dufour is a Canadian self-taught artist based in Spain, who has exhibited her work throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Whilst on a trip to France in 2013, she picked up a paintbrush and never looked back, now busying herself daily with her luminous, intriguing abstract compositions. Dufour is guided by divine energy and the thrill of creativity, and seeks primarily to move others through her artistic practice.
