About this artwork
This painting brings to mind canyons of the west - blue sky, winding rivers, clouds, and bright sunshine, tones of ochre and red - bringing to mind feelings of nature. This piece was inspired by a trip to the southwest some time ago, where the colors have an intensity that isn't seen in the northeast of the US. I loved creating a lot of texture and heavy application of paint to emphasize the luscious sensations and drama of the west.
