There are paintings that aren't immediately understood. This is one of them. The colors clash and coexist in an unstable, almost suspended equilibrium—black deepens the shadow, red and yellow push back the night. Like the solstice itself—that imperceptible instant when something shifts, without us knowing exactly when.
