About this artwork
“Hellianthus” is a visually and symbolically powerful work, whose title merges Helianthus (sunflower) with Hell (Hell), suggesting a contrast between light and darkness, beauty and chaos. The flower, stylized and fragmented, has a geometric center that recalls the complexity of nature and life. The deep red and dark purple of the background evoke a dramatic atmosphere, while the bright green tries to contain the form in a continuous tension between…
order and disintegration. The rough brush strokes and graphic signs, including texts and symbols, recall street art and contemporary expressionism. The text “MR PEE” and other writings emerge and dissolve, creating a cryptic urban language that stimulates personal interpretation. Far from the sunny and harmonious sunflower, “Hellianthus” appears distorted, as if struggling to bloom in a hostile context. It is a metaphor for resilience and the conflict between nature and artifice, life and ruin.
