About this artwork
With this portrait study my aim was to create an Eastern European atmosphere with the soft aged tones of colour with a suggested of a monochrome effect, like a smoke ages photograph. The subject can be seen as gender challenging, and this adds to the mystery surrounding the painting, like walking into an old house and finding an abandoned photo, asking one's self of the history behind the the soul.
