About this artwork
Nothing is more tranquil than sitting in the rainforest, immersing yourself in the sounds of the gentle stream flowing under your feet and the playful birds singing overhead. As I watched I noticed the small pockets of sunlight filtering through the canopy and hitting some of the leaves of the understory. I couldn't help but imagine the plants reacting to the light as if it was time for them to come out and play and bask in the fleeting moments of…
sunshine. It was as if they suddenly reached out to shine in the light.
In this painting I wanted to capture the way that the pocket of light filtered through the leaves and created bright, intense colours on the underside of the leaves.
I also loved the distant light shining through the gap in the forest. I kept it in the distance by simulating something similar to the bokeh effect of the camera lens, while highlighting the effect of the sunlight on the distant canopy.
A great painting for a relaxation room or lounge area.
