About this artwork
This sculpture was created by laminating three separate pieces of marble together, then carving them as one stone. This is particularly difficult because the stones are different in character and hardness scale.
The inspiration for the form of this sculpture was bone forms.
The types of marble used are Italian Nero Portoro Marble, and Colorado Yule Marble. The base is black granite.

Myles Howell is a contemporary sculptor from the US with national exposure. He received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Sculpture from USU in 2013 and recently received a Masters Degree in Sculpture. Using various types of precious stone, Howell crafts sculptors that seem to float away from the ground despite the density of their medium.
