About this artwork
From the Beginning started as an exploration of the central figure and its relationship with the numerous spacial layers. As it evolved it took on earthly and cosmic characteristics that draw ones eye to the light source central to the composition.

Nancy Hayes is an American artist whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in the United States. For over twenty-five years her preferred medium was clay, with which she created three-dimensional lifeforms using a pattern to articulate the surface. Hayes turned to painting in order to expand her artistic vision and to not only portray distinctive organic and vibrant life-forms, but also the environment in which they inhabit.
