About this artwork
One of few illustrations I did. This one was suppose to be for a book, that was never written as far as I know. It was about a personal story of a young couple coming to Rishikesh, India for the first time and falling in love with a street dog. As I spent some time there a few years prior, I did this scene purely from memory. Temples, sadhus, people doing yoga on a roof top, mother Ganga in the distance.......
This piece bursts with vibrant energy,… blending figurative and primitivist styles to capture everyday life’s chaos and charm. Using acrylic, ink, and lacquer, I infused each brushstroke with a joyful, spontaneous spirit. The bustling street, lively characters, and vivid colors invite you to feel the rhythm and warmth of community, making your space alive with movement and cultural pulse.

At the age 16 Nartana enrolled in the 'Fachoberschule fuer Gestaltung', followed by Fachhochschule fuer visuelle Kommunikation. in Aachen, his hometown. Nartana left Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas, eventually establishing himself as an artist and member of the Counsel or the Arts and the Society of Artists in Santa Fe, New Mexico and for the last 18 years living in Thailand.
