About this artwork
This leaf, if my memory serves me right, I collected from a temple in Isan, Northern Thailand many years ago and just recently found it between the pages of a book. Apparently it comes from a 'holy' tree..I couldn't tell you what kind. Many local worshippers were collecting them..I decided to make it last forever by incorporating it into a small art work. after drying, I peeled away more and more of the leaf to end up with a 'skeleton'. Varnished several times to be preserved for eternity.
The wrinkles/waves surrounding the leave are due to the glueing process and give it a special glow.

At the age 16 Nartana enrolled in the 'Fachoberschule fuer Gestaltung', followed by Fachhochschule fuer visuelle Kommunikation. in Aachen, his hometown. Nartana left Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas, eventually establishing himself as an artist and member of the Counsel or the Arts and the Society of Artists in Santa Fe, New Mexico and for the last 18 years living in Thailand.
