About this artwork
The painting "Embryo" is part of the diptych "Metamorphosis of my Ego" and reflects the author's increasing sense of estrangement from her own body and femininity. Due to the constant attentions of her husband and children, she felt trapped in a situation where the sexual expectations and psychological needs of others became an unbearable burden. She began to perceive her body as imperfect and unattractive.
With "Embryo", the author reveals her… vulnerability and dependence, but also emphasizes the need to take care of one's desires. The red and burgundy shades, as well as the provocative silhouettes, convey the intimacy and delicate nature of female sexuality.
Both works are created with a unique technique. The distorted female figures are illuminated by a soft light in the darkness, which creates an intimate atmosphere and invites viewers to share the artist's deeply personal emotions.
Natalia Averianova, a milliner turned painter, draws inspiration from the boundless world of watercolor. She uses the free-form style, allowing colors to reveal their unique and natural beauty, creating depth and liveliness in her paintings. Her works, exuding sincerity and sensuality, are a poetic expression of her feelings, relationships and the harmony of colors.
