About this artwork
Like a vision suspended between dream and reality, The Eye gazes outward from its charcoal depths. A single, meticulously rendered eye floats at the heart of a pale orb, its lashes delicate yet insistent, its iris shimmering with mystery. Around it, soft, flowing strokes radiate like silent waves or whispered flames, suggesting motion, energy, and an unseen force at work. The drawing is fixed upon a gilded ground, the gold catching light like a quiet… aura, adding a sense of sacredness and timelessness. Encased within a three-dimensional frame, the piece feels less like an image and more like a portal—an invitation to look, to be looked at, and to wonder what lies beyond.
Natalia Nik is a contemporary artist based in Budapest, originally from Russia. Working across mixed media, she combines digital drawing with traditional techniques to create contemplative works characterized by softness, atmospheric depth, and poetic restraint. Her practice explores states of reverie and suspension between reality and imagination, where form gradually dissolves into mood and inner presence. Natalia’s work encompasses landscape, portraiture, symbolic animal imagery, and abstract explorations, all unified by a quiet, introspective approach. Her works have been exhibited internationally and are held in private collections in Europe and beyond.
