About this artwork
"Autumn" depicts a close-up of a female face, embedded in a composition of fruit, leaves, and floral forms. The dominant colors—bright orange, rich red, and warm yellow—evoke the bounty of autumn, ripe pomegranates, citrus fruits, and the golden sun of the last warm days.
The woman's lips, sensually and powerfully accentuated, take center stage—a symbol of vitality, pleasure, and the cyclical nature of the seasons. Fine line drawings of leaves,… blossoms, and fruit intertwine with the flowing layers of color, creating a work that hovers between abstraction and figuration.
“Autumn” is a homage to ripeness, harvest and abundance – to that moment when nature shines in all its glory before retreating.
Natalya Cernov works primarily with acrylic paints on canvas and found her artistic path outside of academic paths, guided by a passion for color and self-expression. She uses impasto layers, visible brushstrokes, and symbolic motifs such as eyes, water, and hearts; her style oscillates between expressionism, symbolism, and modern portraiture. Her works convey deep, silent emotions, invite self-reflection, and open space for hope, transformation, and the discovery of the invisible within.
