About this artwork
"Spring" depicts a portrait of a woman whose face glows in soft shades of pink and green. She seems at one with nature: blossoms, leaves, and delicate lines entwine around her hair, which grows out of the canvas like a living wreath. Her calm, open gaze holds the promise of new beginnings and hope.
The colors—fresh green, delicate pink, delicate speckles—are reminiscent of the first buds, of young life unfolding after winter. The work combines… clarity and playfulness: large-scale color fields in the background meet delicate drawings of plants, bringing movement and lightness to the composition.
“Spring” is a symbol of renewal, growth, and the quiet power of awakening—an image that reminds the viewer of the magic of new beginnings.
Natalya Cernov works primarily with acrylic paints on canvas and found her artistic path outside of academic paths, guided by a passion for color and self-expression. She uses impasto layers, visible brushstrokes, and symbolic motifs such as eyes, water, and hearts; her style oscillates between expressionism, symbolism, and modern portraiture. Her works convey deep, silent emotions, invite self-reflection, and open space for hope, transformation, and the discovery of the invisible within.
