Americano Dream embodies the real United States of America, warm and welcoming to those who come to her shores. In direct rejection of the hate politics being played by white nationalists in power, this sculpture waves the true freedom flag, never to be dimmed or denied. Many hours went into Americano Dream's creation, from digging sun baked, dry root and cactus fibers out of the desert, to scrubbing, scouring, peeling, hollowing and hand smoothing,…
with dozens of layers treatment. Driven by the structure and feel of the cactus fibers, Americano Dream's stars and stripes were formed to absorb then amplify light, illuminating the welcoming feeling of glorious freedom of the real America. Nath Raye is an acclaimed artist from the United States whose work has been featured in international publications. She discovered the healing properties of art after recovering from a spinal injury by collecting sun baked cactus carcasses in the desert and turning this raw material into sculptures. Inspired by the beauty of nature, each piece Raye crafts is made from a natural piece of wood or fiber found in the desert.
