About this artwork
"Azul" is the first work in a series of five portraits dedicated to the same muse.
From the very first steps, it became clear to me that this portrait could not remain isolated.
It contained the beginnings of a larger story, which gradually unfolded into a series.
Created with oil and copper leaf on a prepared wood panel, the work combines matter and light within a deliberately limited palette. The copper captures the light and introduces a subtle… vibration into the pictorial surface, in dialogue with the density of the support.
The name "Azul" emerged naturally during the process, in a silent dialogue between the presence of the model and an inner atmosphere nourished by music.
This first piece marks a turning point in my artistic research because it opens a cycle centered on the tension between apparent gentleness and inner intensity.
The artwork is sold framed in a high-quality, handcrafted frame made of white-painted ash.
