About this artwork
This work was created for the Faces Festival Bermagui in 2018. The series that this painting is part of presents the staff of Gulaga Organics. The concept is to through the character of the birds in the background indicate the personality of the sitter. In this case there are two birds represented Magpies and a Red Honey Eater, indicating two quite different aspects of the sitter.

Australian painter Neil Miley began his artistic career at age seven, and throughout his youth always had a paper and pencil on hand for when inspiration struck. Miley's process involves combining tried and true methods with his own novel approaches. Working in oil paintings, ink drawings, and graphite drawings, Miley describes his style as "imaginative realism." He masterfully represents imagined scenes in a skillfully realistic and emotionally evocative manner.
