About this artwork
The sleep of reason brings forth monsters. I think it was Goya who first used this title (forgive my translation) in his great 'Disasters of war' series of etchings. The failure of people to act in the face of a threat has often resulted in catastrophe. Sadly this still continues to happen and occurs time and time again in relation to both threats to wellbeing of individuals and the planet. It is so easy to ignore problems (I am guilty of it myself).…
Whether through selfishness, inertia or the feeling of powerlessness we often choose to do nothing.

« There are only two great subjects that, sooner or later, an artist has to confront: love and death. Having embraced them, everything else seems trivial. »
Neil Moore is an experienced painter and draftsman based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited in England and the United States. Finding people endlessly fascinating and inspiring, he employs art as a means to explore the questions that arise from life experiences. Moore's figurative compositions are created in a distinctive and representational style with oils on canvas.
