About this artwork
“Hidden Circles” is a captivating textured artwork that juxtaposes vibrant and neutral tones to create a harmonious balance. The top section of the piece features vivid, flat gouache colors, symbolizing the dynamic energy and vibrancy of life. In contrast, the bottom section is adorned with calm, neutral hues, evoking a sense of tranquility and stability.
This piece draws inspiration from ancient Egyptian beliefs about circles, which were powerful… symbols in their culture. The circle was closely linked to the sun, a vital source of life and energy, representing life’s continuous renewal. The ankh, a key symbol in ancient Egyptian culture, incorporates a circle at the top, symbolizing the eternal spirit and the celestial world, often associated with the life-giving power of the sun god Ra. The shen ring, a circle of rope with a knot, symbolized eternity and protection, often encircling names or important symbols to signify the eternal nature of the soul.
