About this artwork
Painting: Acrylic, Conte, Charcoal on Canvas.
There is a noble and rich constructivist tradition in Latin American art: Ismael Nery, Mira Shendel, Volpi, Xul Solar, Julio Mancebo, Samson Flexor, Ruben Valentin, Milton da Costa, among others, the list is extensive.
The present work is a formal and chromatic construction where, on the painting done with acrylic paint, an illusion of depth appears, which was developed from shadows made with charcoal… and then fixed with varnish. Contrary to what it may seem, the work has no collages, it is simply painting and illusion.

« The field of art and the autonomy of the artist are an experience of freedom and risk. »
Scheufler can remember drawing since he was 3 years old, at his childhood home in Porto Alegre. Now a seasoned professional, his restless spirit ensures he continues to push boundaries and explore various ways of working, all these years later. His bright abstract works explore the relationship between colour and formal synthesis.
