Spot Mirror No. 2 is the second work in the Spot Mirror series.
The artwork consists of a 4 mm thick aluminum plate covered with a thin, brushed chiffon and mounted on a wooden panel. The surrounding shadow gap creates a clear separation between the surface, the support, and the wall. As a result, the piece appears not merely as a flat painting, but as an independent object with a spatial presence.
The combination of metal structure and fine… chiffon creates a surface that changes depending on the light, space, and viewing angle. Sometimes it appears matte and understated, sometimes glossy or reflective, and in some places almost colored. The dark, softly fading spotlight in the center acts like a condensation of light, shadow, and material.
Spot Mirror No. 2 explores the boundary between image, mirror, and object. It is a reduced yet vibrant work whose effect is not static but constantly reshapes itself in relation to its surroundings.
Nick Jakho, born in Eastern Europe and raised in Western Europe, works as a painter and metal sculptor, favoring large-format works on metal. His technique is characterized by reduction, symmetry, and an openness to chance, with raw materials and traces of oxidation deliberately incorporated into the composition. His artworks radiate a particular atmosphere and invite the viewer to enter into a quiet, personal dialogue with their own feelings.
