No. 4 is part of the Forma series, an ongoing group of metal works in which symmetry, division, and material presence are central elements. The work consists of 4 mm thick aluminum, mounted on a wooden frame with a fine, continuous 5 mm shadow gap. This distance between the metal surface and the wall reinforces the object-like character of the work, making it appear as a hybrid between painting, relief, and sculptural object.
The edge is crafted… on a voile with a subtle gradient from black to grey. This creates a visual depth that emphasizes the volume of the metal and highlights the clear symmetry of the composition.
The Forma series explores how minimal interventions, precise proportions, and industrial materials can create a physical presence in space. Forma No. 4 reduces the picture plane to edge, weight, light, and division—making the tension between surface and object visible.
Nick Jakho, born in Eastern Europe and raised in Western Europe, works as a painter and photographer, preferring large-format works on metal. His technique is characterized by reduction, symmetry, and an openness to chance, with raw materials and traces of oxidation deliberately incorporated into the composition. His artworks exude a melancholic atmosphere and invite the viewer to enter into a quiet, personal dialogue with their own feelings.
