About this artwork
Due to the suspicion of the disappearance of the painting Adelheit and Gabriele Humboldt, which the painter Gottlieb Schick (1776–1812) painted around 1800, I attempted to repaint the work on wood in 1975 during my time at the Academy and gave it the title Friendship.

In this painting, I captured the deep connection and security between two people. Using vibrant tempera paints, I wanted to realistically depict warmth… and tenderness. The tranquil window and the natural surroundings are like a safe haven for this intimate friendship. It's meant to radiate harmony and closeness, filling any home with emotion and peace.
