About this artwork
On a prepared canvas, I work in the white, sandy paste to let the material express itself. I add, remove, and let it rest.
Gradually, traces remain and I finish the painting with a fitted wooden frame.
The painting process has already begun when I cut and coat my canvas and then mix the pigments with a sandy material.
It is very important for me to work with materials that I have prepared myself. They are what give me the desire to paint every… day.

Nicole Bovard, a Swiss painter, mainly uses tempera on canvas.
After studying graphic design and obtaining a master's degree in art history from the University of Lausanne, she has been exhibiting regularly since 2005.
The artist works in Lausanne and Italy. She prepares her own colors and backgrounds to develop a technique that closely reflects her sensibility.
Her current works no longer distinguish between figuration and abstraction. The artist gives a central place to the material, which she works until she sees a vibrant presence that invites the imagination.
