About this artwork
There is something powerfully mysterious that envelops our senses when we are in the presence of a centenary tree. It is the perception of life that constantly flows. In the lymph that verdant its luxuriant foliage. In the wrinkles of its bark. In the roots that crawl in the soil.
Nijesh through the medium of abstract painting captures the vital essence of a tree. He traces its essential forms and geometric line of the trunk, the irregular shapes… of its leaves, giving us back an image that is sharp in the shape but shaded in its colors, suspended between opacity and transparency.
Mohan’s painted tree is rooted between two terrains: that of reality and that of the imagination. It is a real tree, but it is also the idea of it. The color palette chosen by the artist, in the tones of purple, blue, and pink, is a dip in the dreamy, nostalgic world of childhood memories. Rooted in a time when connecting with nature was pure emotion.
