Shaped and inspired by the world, by Berlin, by the supposedly ugly or scorned, No Sky sees and creates hidden beauty, creating poetry in the mundane. She also draws inspiration from her social work with homeless people: she works with what is there and sees the endearing in the marginal.
As a self-taught artist, she learns centimeter by centimeter through free experimentation and practice. Predefined rules and unfamiliar techniques bore and paralyze her.
This opens up space for free, associative experimentation with materials and techniques – sometimes even for unorthodox methods. Completely pure and naive.
Recurring motifs include the illusion of beauty in ugliness, of grandeur in miniature, and of the figurative in abstraction. Her works invite viewers to marvel, to decipher, or to lose themselves in their own imagination. The creatures, created from inanimate materials, seek to engage with us – to love us, to frighten us, or to disgust us.
