Hélène Jacqz
France
« Painting must go beyond themes and ideas. »
French painter Hélène Jacqz is the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Fullbright and Rubinstein awards. Jacqz makes her own colors and brushes, and enjoys the exploring reactions to water, chemistry of paints, and composition of tools. Constantly adapting her style and methods, Jacqz spent many years working with rollers, which allowed her to extend a single gesture from one end of the painting to the other in a dance. Jacqz's large-scale, acrylic-on-wood works are abstract, frank, and dynamic.
